After having trumped by HMSI last year in the race for sales numbers, fourth placed bike maker in the country, TVS Motor is all geared to respond with a potent-looking performance motorcycle that it plans to launch in coming few months. Going by the picture released on the bike-maker’s Facebook page and the tag that reads, ‘New Beast, same bloodline’ indicates that the new bike will be a worthy successor to the revered Apache brand. It’s been a long wait for Indian bikers, who have been waiting for a 200cc plus motorcycle from the Hosur-based company and the time is ripe for the company to introduce a model in the 200-250cc segment to match its rivals, most of whom already have solid presence in the premium motorcycle segment.
It has been a long time since TVS Motor made its presence felt and it has paid a price for its conservative approach by being pushed down to the fourth spot by third placed HMSI, who is going bullish on the Indian two-wheeler market. However, knowing TVS Motor’s capabilities and potential at churning out well-built and potent motorcycles based around its racing lineage of decades, there is a good chance that the new motorcycle will be one forceful product from the company that may go head-to-head with the new Bajaj Pulsar 200NS, the KTM 200 Duke and the Yamaha YZF-R15. There are no other details about the bike available yet, but the image does suggest that it will be an aggressively styled biggest Apache till date. With the bike manufacturers vying to lure the premium motorcycle market, the ultimate beneficiary is the Indian biker.
