Porsche Macan R4 Launched At Rs 76.84 Lakh

Porsche today has launched the most affordable variant of its baby SUV offering, the Macan. Christened as the ‘R4’ variant, the SUV has been priced at Rs 76.84 lakh (ex-showroom, Maharashtra). The Macan till now was available in three variants – S Diesel, Turbo, and Turbo with Performance Package. 

The biggest change in the R4 variant is its engine. The SUV is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-pot turbocharged petrol mill that produces 252PS of max power at 5000-6800rpm and 370Nm of torque at 1600-4500rpm. The engine is married with a 7-speed ‘PDK’ dual-clutch automatic gearbox, allowing the R4 to sprint from 0-100kmph in 6.7 seconds and a top speed electronically limited to 229kmph.

Apart from the change under the hood, the Macan R4 comes with several creature comforts that have been carried forwarded from the other variants. It features an 8-way electrically-adjustable driver’s seat, 3-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, and a multi-function sports steering wheel with paddle-shifters. Other goodies like Bi-Xenon headlamps, panoramic sunroof, air suspension (with Porsche Active Suspension Management), Lane Departure Warning and Park Assist with front and rear sensors and reverse camera are offered as standard equipment.

The Macan R4 will be available in India as a direct import, like all other models offered in India. On the competition front, the Macan R4 is available only with a petrol mill and faces direct competition from the Mercedes-Benz GLE 400 4MATIC and the recently launched Jaguar F-Pace, although it is available only with a diesel motor.
