The recent revision in Fame-II subsidies has largely benefited EV manufacturers, well, at least the ones competing in the premium segment. Revolt Motors is one of them with its Revolt RV 400 which now costs Rs 90,799, bringing it on par with ICE-powered motorcycles in this segment. The rest of the cities will have to shell out Rs 106,999 for the bike post subsidies.
Revolt opened bookings for the RV 400 earlier today via its official website. However, the demand for the bike was such that the company managed to sell Rs 50 crore worth of RV 400's in less than two hours of it going live. As a result, it stopped accepting any more bookings from potential customers.
Bookings for the bike were being accepted across six cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Hyderabad.
The RV 400 was the first electric motorcycle to be launched in India in 2019. It brought with it several unique features, such as customised sounds, connected features, and Revolt’s Switch Station where you can swap the RV 400’s battery within a few seconds.
Not to mention, it packs a 3kW motor and a 72V, 3.24KWh lithium-ion battery capable of delivering a claimed top speed of 85kmph and an ARAI-certified range of 156km per charge. It takes about 4.5 hours to charge. You also get to choose between three riding modes: Eco, Normal and Sport. Underpinnings comprise upside-down forks, preload-adjustable monoshock, and disc brakes at both ends.
Revolt intends to expand its dealership and service network across 35 cities in India. The new price should hopefully lure more customers to make the switch to electric motorcycles. These incentives should also reel in new startups and mainstream manufacturers to develop electric solutions that would strengthen India’s commitment to building a low-carbon future and curbing climate change.
