Revolt RV400 Gets A Massive Price Cut In Gujarat

Citizens of Gujarat, rejoice! Following the introduction of a new EV policy by the Gujarat government, the Revolt RV400 has become more affordable by up to Rs 20,000. Customers will still have to pay the full retail price of Rs 1.07 lakh at first, but Rs 20,000 will be directly credited into their bank account from the state, bringing the effective price down to about Rs 87,000 (all prices, on-road Ahmedabad). This benefit is also applicable on Revolt’s EMI plan of Rs 4,266/month for the RV400. Here’s a detailed breakup:

The Gujarat government’s new policy offers benefits of Rs 10,000 per kWh on electric vehicles, effective from July 1, 2021. This benefit comes after the recent introduction of the FAME-II subsidy of Rs 15,000 per kWh by the Central government. Clubbing these two together and considering the RV400’s 3.2kWh setup, the benefits add up to a massive Rs 68,000! But most of it is reserved for the manufacturers so that they ramp up production, thus increasing the number of EVs on our streets. 

Even though customers will benefit from this move, we think Revolt could’ve done a little more for potential buyers. We understand the extra revenue will help Revolt build on its future products and also improve its manufacturing facilities, but sharing a larger chunk of the subsidies would have helped draw more customers.

Nevertheless, what this incentive means is that the famed RV400’s effective price drops closer to petrol-powered 125cc scooters and motorcycles, such as the Honda Activa 125 and Bajaj Pulsar 125. 

Given the company’s claims of the RV400’s running cost being as low as Rs 9/100km and the sky high petrol prices, it’s safe to say the RV400 is a solid deal, at least in Gujarat. 

Sadly, the RV400 isn’t on sale right now since it was sold out in just 120 minutes the last time around. That said, we’re pretty sure Revolt is already working on ramping up production, so the wait shouldn’t be too long!
