All the little and not-so-little additions that plug the bike's few imperfections

Royal Enfield Interceptor 65

There are those of us who take pride in keeping our motorcycles showroom-fresh and bone stock, and then there are others who enjoy modding their machines into oblivion. If you fall under the latter, and you've got a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 parked downstairs, then this is just the article for you.

Handlebar Risers

Royal Enfield Handlebar Risers By Motone

The Interceptor is a pretty well-rounded motorcycle, but no bike is without its flaws. One of the Interceptor's is comfort, both in terms of the seat and ergonomics. A quick fix for the ergos is a set of handlebar risers, which can help the controls fall more easily to hand, resulting in a more upright and comfortable riding posture. These are available in the form of cylindrical spacers or entire cast brackets/clamps, and can cost from as little as Rs 850 all the way up to nearly Rs 5,000.

Touring Seat

To rectify the seat issue, you needn't look far; RE will sell you an accessory touring seat as well. The shape is largely the same as that of the standard seat, but better padding means that it remains comfortable for longer periods. Depending on the pattern, it'll cost you between Rs 4,000 and Rs 4,750.

Aftermarket Exhaust

In addition to great power delivery, a 270-degree parallel-twin also belts out a tasty soundtrack. Unfortunately, the stranglehold of BS6 emission norms means that this aural pleasure is somewhat subdued on the Interceptor. To fix this, you can opt for an aftermarket slip-on exhaust system. There are loads of options in the market, with the more popular ones coming from AEW, Red Rooster, and Indimotard/Greasehouse. Careful, though, because only some of these are street-legal.

Pillion Footpegs

Lowered Pillion Footrest For RE Interceptor 650 - Hepco & Becker

The Interceptor is a decent enough tourer, but if you want your partner to accompany you on longer rides, you're going to want to do something about the uncomfortable pillion footpeg. No worries, it's a simple matter of repositioning the pillion footpegs, and there are kits for this available from dealers like HDT Customs and Bikenbiker, starting from just Rs 1,400.

Phone Mount

The Interceptor isn't one of those retros with a lot of modern features beneath the surface. The instrumentation is basic and largely analogue, so if you want things like navigation capabilities, your best bet is a phone mount. These range from a few hundred bucks on Amazon to multiple thousands for a genuine RAM mount.
