Suzuki offers Rs 50,000 discount on GSX-S1000

The Suzuki GSX-S1000 is among the best performance naked motorcycles on sale in the Indian market. But it seems that the Japanese two-wheeler giant is finding it difficult to find takers for its latest CBU offering in the Indian market. Few months back, Suzuki India had announced that it will be offering Kushitani leather jacket free to every GSX-S1000 buyer. The jacket retails for a princely sum of Rs 60,000 but despite the above scheme sales have been slow. Now to make the Suzuki GSX-S1000 a more enticing prospect, the Japanese two-wheeler giant has started offering a cashback of Rs 50,000 for the naked motorcycle. The Suzuki GSX-S1000 has been priced at Rs 12.25 lakh ex-showroom Delhi in our market and with the above goodies the price drops to 11.15 lakh ex-showroom.  The above scheme is valid only till March 31st, 2016. 

The new GSX-S1000 isn’t a mere rebadged version of the GSX-R. Suzuki has built it on an entirely new platform making the machine more roadster than streetfighter. Further changes include the addition of a three-way selectable traction control system and ABS in the Suzuki GSX-S1000. The new roadster gets KYB shocks that come with adjustable preload and rebound making it more fitting for street use. Braking duties are performed by Brembo monoblock callipers.

It uses the same purpose-built chassis as the GSX-S1000 and the engine from the 2008 GSX-R1000. In fact, it has the same suspension and brake setup as well. The Suzuki GSX-S1000’s motor produces 146PS of max power at 10,000rpm and 106Nm of peak torque at 9,500rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox that transmits power via chain drive. The power output of 146PS makes the Suzuki GSX-S1000 the second most powerful litre-class Japanese streetbike behind the Yamaha FZ1 that was recently discontinued from our market. Other rivals in the Indian market include the Kawasaki Z1000 and the Honda CB1000.
