If you thought the BMW M3 wasn't already capable enough, the supercar slayer now gets the a special edition. This doesn’t come as a surprise considering the M4 coupe only recently received the same treatment. If you want to own one, better hurry as the BMW M3 CS will be limited to just 1200 units that will be available across the world.
At the heart of it lies a high-performance, twin-turbo, 3.0-litre, inline six engine which produces 440PS of power and 599Nm of torque. This is an increase of 10PS and 49Nm over the standard M3. This makes the special edition sedan capable of sprinting from 0-to-100kmph in just 3.9 seconds! To not to blow your roof off, the BMW M3 CS's top speed is electronically limited to 280kmph. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic system. The exhaust note has been redesigned to offer a meatier note.
Along with the power boost, BMW was also able to shed up to 50kg of weight thanks to the use of carbon-fibre all over. It can be seen on the front splitter, rear diffuser and the lip spoiler.
Even the roof and the bonnet are made up of the material and both weigh 25 per cent lighter than the steel panels of the regular sedan. The new forged alloy wheels have also contributed towards significant weight reduction. Along with it, the Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres come as standard.
The special edition comes with BMW's Active M Suspension which features Comfort, Sport and Sport+ modes. These modes adjust the car's damper settings and the weight of electrically-assisted power steering. Just like all the other BMW M cars, the M3 CS has an active M differential as a standard as well.
The interior of the M3 CS has also been refreshed with a two-tone leather option, and a copious amount of Alcantara on the steering wheel, centre console and the dashboard. The lighter sports seats from the M3 Competition Package have been carried over here too. The steering wheel along with the seatbelts feature the M division red and blue accents. The BMW M3 CS retains the Harmon Kardon surround-sound system from the regular sports sedan.
Orders for the new BMW M3 CS can be placed from January next year, with the production expected to start from March 2018 onwards.
