The track-only bike will be used for the new rookie category at the One Make Championship

TVS Racing, the motorsport division of the Hosur-based company, has pulled the wraps off the TVS Apache RR 200. We hate to burst your bubble, but this Apache is a track-only bike developed purely for the rookie category that TVS Racing announced last week for its One Make Championship.

The TVS Apache RR 200 is powered by the same oil and air-cooled 197.8cc single-cylinder SOHC motor from the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V. TVS hasn’t divulged the performance figures; however, given its racing intent, we reckon that the numbers may have bumped up from the stock bike’s 20.82PS and 17.25Nm.

We aren't sure what frame the bike is using underneath the low-drag race fairing but the chassis is suspended onto an adjustable USD fork and a monoshock. Even the braking hardware has been updated; instead of the axial caliper at the front, the RR 200 comes with a Brembo radial caliper clamping onto the petal disc. TVS has even opted for lighter five-spoke alloy wheels shod with special component tyres from TVS Eurogrip.

The TVS Apache RR 200 has been conceptualised for riders aged between 13 and 19 years. Registrations are already underway, and the selection round is scheduled to take place on August 14 at the Madras Motor Race Track (MMRT) in Irungattukottai.

TVS has been at the forefront of nurturing motorsports in India and has been distilling the learnings to improve its motorcycles. The 2021 TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and the 2021 TVS RTR 160 4V are prime examples of that. Also, given TVS’s history, one cannot rule out the idea of a road-legal Apache RR 200 in the country.
