What Could We See From Jawa In 2020?

Jawa completed a year of existence in 2019. The brand reappeared in the Indian market thanks to Classic Legends. It was not quite smooth sailing for the brand over the course of the past twelve months but it has managed to ramp up production to meet the crazy response that its motorcycles, the Jawa and the Forty Two, have received so far. So what does the retro bike maker have on offer for 2020?

Jawa Perak:
It took Jawa over a year to get the Perak bobber ready for production. Jawa had announced the prices of the bike in 2018 itself. By the time the company could sort out its production, it was far too late to bring forth a BS4 model. Hence, Jawa had to rework the engine to meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms. This resulted in a small price hike of Rs 5,000 as the Jawa Perak went on sale at Rs 1.94 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Bookings commence from 6pm, January 1 onwards, with the bookings open only for a limited time period. Deliveries of the bike will start from April 2.

Large displacement Jawa and Forty Two:
Aside from updating the current 293cc engine to comply with BS6 emission norms, Jawa will be launching the Jawa (the bike) and the Forty Two with the larger 334cc motor from the Perak. These two new models will be sold as variants alongside the existing 293cc engine.

A scrambler derived from the Forty Two:
Jawa has been tapping into the neo-retro genres quite successfully, with the Perak bobber being a classic example. Going forward, we expect Jawa to bring forth a scrambler derived from the Forty Two. Jawa has a rich history of producing capable off-road racing winners. The brand has also commissioned several custom houses of India to produce custom scramblers. Hence, expect something new and adventurous from Jawa in 2020.
