With Yamaha India confirming the FZ-X’s launch date, various dealerships across the country have already started accepting bookings for the bike with a minimum amount ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,000. Oh, in case the bike doesn’t catch your fancy, the token amount is fully refundable.
The official launch has been scheduled for June 18 and deliveries are expected to commence from early August. The Yamaha FZ-X might carry a premium of around Rs 5,000 over the standard model priced at Rs 1.04 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
It’s powered by a familiar 149cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine from the FZ. It makes 12.37PS and 13.6Nm. On the aesthetics front, the Yamaha FZ-X borrows a few styling cues from the internationally sold XSR series.
From the leaked visuals, Yamaha could likely launch the FZ-X in two variants (like the Yamaha FZS V3). Its proportions seem to be a bit off in the spy shots. However, we hope that changes once we have an upfront look at the bike. It’ll compete against the Suzuki Gixxer, Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 and the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.
