If you are smitten by the neo-retro genre, the Yamaha FZ-X is the latest and the most affordable retro-themed motorcycle in India you can buy today. As much as we like the bike in its factory guise, the Japanese manufacturer is offering a bunch of accessories to dial things up a notch:
LED Indicators
Price: Rs 1,490
The Yamaha FZ-X comes with an LED headlight, complete with LED DRL and even LED tail light, but Team Blue stuck to halogen units for the turn indicators. However, the accessory catalogue gives you an option to opt for sharper-looking LED indicators that aren’t just aesthetically pleasing but also offer more visibility and life than the halogen indicators.
Tank Pad
Price: Rs 400
A tank pad is as much about function as it is about form. It not only gives the Yamaha FZ-X a more retro appeal, but also helps riders to grip the tank better. However, this is made using plastic rather than rubber though Yamaha assures us the adhesive will not affect the paint if you choose to remove it later.
Seat Cover
Price: Rs 300
The standard seat of the Yamaha FZ-X seems well cushioned and is ribbed for the added retro feel and this seat cover only accentuates it. This is a water resistant, dustproof seat cover that is offered with an affordable price tag.
Chrome Mirrors
Price: Rs 400
Nothing can match the charm of chrome on a retro-styled motorcycle and these mirrors do just that. They also appear to be slightly larger than the stock mirrors. However, given that the Yamaha FZ-X is virtually devoid of any bling, we are not sure if these mirrors would blend well with the rest of the bike.
Engine Guard
Price: Rs 800
Having crash protection on your bike is always a good idea, and Yamaha’s engine guard fits the bill perfectly. It is affordable, comes with rust protection and being designed specifically for the Yamaha FZ-X means it will fit perfectly.
The Yamaha FZ-X’s official accessory list also includes a pillion footrest and a bike cover, both retailing for Rs 400 each.
