Key Differences Between The New And Old Apache RTR 160 4V

On October 9, TVS caught everyone by surprise with the launch of the 2022 Apache RTR 160 4V. The bike received more than just a single update and is notably different from its previous iteration. Here are the full details. 

Updated Fascia

TVS has tweaked the headlight design on the new Apache RTR 160 4V. The LED DRL position has also been altered. The low beam and the high beam can now function simultaneously.

Riding Modes!

The 2021 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V was only equipped with ABS as the safety net. However, the company has now thrown in three riding modes as well: Sport, Rain and Urban. The single-channel ABS has been retained. 

New Features

Apart from the ride modes, the new TVS Apache RTR 160 4V also gets the SmartXonnect feature, which allows you to connect your smartphone to the bike via Bluetooth and access turn-by-turn navigation, among other geeky features. The console now gets a gear-position indicator. 

However, the SmartXonnect is only available on the top-end model.

Engine

Both models are powered by the same 160cc air-cooled motor but the peak power for the 2022 model has taken a hit. In Sport mode, it makes 17.55PS at 9250rpm and 14.73Nm at 7250rpm instead of 17.63PS at 9250rpm and 14.73Nm at 7250rpm (no riding modes). In Rain/Urban mode, the output is cut down to 15.64PS at 8,600rpm and 14.14Nm at 7,250rpm. The 5-speed gearbox remains unchanged. 

Special Edition

Yes, the 2022 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V is also available in a Special Edition. It offers the bike in a matte black colour with red alloys and adjustable clutch and brake levers and a new seat pattern. 

Better Rubber

While the old model rolls on conventional rubber, the 2022 model is offered with a radial rear tyre as well. 

Price

TVS has priced the 2022 Apache RTR 160V at Rs 1,15,565 onwards. Meanwhile, its predecessor retailed at an asking price of Rs 1,11,565 for the front disc and Rs 1,14,615 for the front and rear disc model. Here’s the full price list.
