The Kia Syros is the latest and most premium product in the sub-4m SUV segment in India currently. This puts it in contention with one of the other popular offerings in the segment, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza. Both SUVs are well-packaged in themselves, and it will be interesting to see how much the Syros stands apart from its Maruti rival. Let’s begin.

The Kia Syros’ prices are yet to be officially announced, which we reckon will be revealed at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January 2025. With how feature-packed the new Kia SUV is, it is safe to say that despite sitting in the segment, the Syros creates a category of its own, justifiably asking for a premium over its Maruti rival.
Let’s see what’s next.

The Syros shares a similar length with the Brezza, though it is slightly wider, while the Brezza is marginally taller than the Syros. The notable differences lie in their wheelbase and boot space. The Syros scores the point here with a longer wheelbase, which ultimately translates into greater cabin space as well – the boot likewise.

The one section where the Syros outdoes all of its segment rivals is the feature set. So is the case here. While the Brezza is reasonably well-equipped, the Syros goes a step further with larger wheels, bigger displays—including a fully digital instrument cluster—a premium sound system with additional speakers, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, rear window sunshades, ventilated and powered seats, and an air purifier, all of which are absent in the Brezza.

When it comes to safety, the Syros also takes the lead, offering six airbags as standard, compared to the Brezza’s dual airbags in lower variants and six only in the top trim.
Additionally, the Syros includes a dual dashcam setup, front and side parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, and ADAS features—none of which are available in the Brezza. In answer, the Brezza gets a head up display which the Syros misses out.

The Syros and Brezza present distinct powertrain options. The Syros comes with turbo petrol and diesel engine choices, while the Brezza offers a petrol engine along with a more cost-efficient petrol-CNG setup. Transmission options also differ between the two. That said, the Syros delivers higher power and torque figures across both its engine options compared to the Brezza.
All that seen, the Syros undoubtedly offers more compared to the Brezza, but that will call for a higher price tag. Ultimately, the choice boils down to your preferences. If you're willing to spend extra for premium features in the sub-4m segment, the Syros is designed to meet those expectations. On the other hand, the Brezza stands out for its no nonsense nature with a reasonably well equipped package that will suit most buyers.
