Skoda and Kia have recently introduced their new nameplates in the hot-selling sub-compact SUV segment in India. The Skoda Kylaq has earned praise for its impressive features and continues to be well-regarded, but the Kia Syros now takes center stage as the most premium and feature-rich SUV underneath the 4-metre mark. On the other hand, the Syros with its whole new design, is in fact not a typical vehicle in this segment, making the comparison between the two an interesting watch up next.

However, the Kylaq with its longer wheelbase ensures it doesn’t lack significantly in cabin space. Speaking of size, it’s worth highlighting the Syros’ unique boxy design, which uses its proportions, effectively utilizing every corner to create a greater overall volume.

As mentioned earlier, the Kia Syros positions itself as a more premium offering compared to the Skoda Kylaq. That said, the Kylaq holds its own with an impressive feature set, including the segment-first introduction of a 6-way power-adjustable driver and co-driver’s seat.
The Syros, however, takes the lead with an upscale array of features like larger displays for both the infotainment system and instrument cluster, a premium sound system with additional speakers, and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof compared to the Kylaq's single-pane unit. Other highlights include 64-colour ambient lighting, an air purifier, all four power windows with one-touch auto up/down functionality, a 360-degree camera, front and side parking sensors, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold and Level-2 ADAS capabilities. Furthermore, the Syros introduces segment-exclusive features such as sliding and reclining rear seats and a dual-dashcam setup, solidifying its position as a more feature-rich and premium option in this segment.

It is expected to command a higher price than the Skoda Kylaq, which was introduced with a price range of Rs 7.89 lakh to Rs 14.4 lakh (ex-showroom).
