Spoiler alert: The GPX 125 has a significant price advantage over the RC 125. But there’s a catch…

UK-based bikemaker Sinnis has launched the GPX 125 overseas. And its main aim is to take on and hopefully dethrone the popular KTM RC 125. Can it do so? Well, we’re finding out exactly that via this paper-based spec comparo.

The Sinnis GPX 125 isn’t a match for the KTM RC 125 in terms of outright grunt, as the latter makes 2PS and 1.3Nm more. While this won’t be too noticeable at city speeds, the RC 125 will surely have a better top speed.

Additionally, KTM recently made the RC 125’s airbox 40 percent bigger and gave it a new ECU map, which should give it a further edge over the Sinnis GPX 125.

Both bikes have their set of pros here. Taking the RC 125 first, it gets bigger front and rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS, along with a proven trellis frame. This should make it safer in tricky situations and quicker handling than the Sinnis GPX 125.

On the other hand, the Sinnis GPX 125 gets a chunkier 48mm USD fork and slimmer profile tyres, which should reduce rolling resistance and make it extra planted on the front end.

Between the two, we’d pick the KTM RC 125 mostly because of the added safety net.

The Sinnis GPX 125, with its 8mm lower seat height, should be easier to live with between the two. But the KTM RC 125, with its 1.7-litre bigger fuel tank and 7kmpl more claimed efficiency than the Sinnis GPX 125, comes out as the more economical option on the go.

Not to forget, the RC 125 weighs 8kg less than the GPX 125, which can make a big difference in the real world. For those reasons, we’d pick the KTM RC 125 here.

Features are one of the USPs of the RC 125 and there’s no beating it here. The Sinnis GPX 125 does get the basics right by offering LED lights, disc brakes at both ends, and a coloured LCD instrument cluster, but the RC 125 edges ahead with bits like switchable ABS and an adjustable handlebar.

The RC 125’s advantage is even more in Europe as the European model gets a Bluetooth-equipped TFT instrument cluster.

Price & Verdict

Sinnis GPX 125

KTM RC 125

Rs 3.3 lakh (UK price)

Rs 5.08 lakh (UK price)

Since the Sinnis GPX 125 is on sale in the UK, it’s only fair to consider the KTM RC 125’s UK price too. And this makes all the difference.

The Sinnis GPX 125 is around 1750 GBP (Rs 1.8 lakh) cheaper than the KTM RC 125, a big sum even by UK standards. However, there’s no getting around the fact that the KTM RC 125 is the more premium, more powerful, and better-equipped motorcycle between the two.

From an Indian perspective, we think if Sinnis was to bring the GPX 125 here at around Rs 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom), it could give the Indian KTM RC 125 a run for its money.
