Audi India has started the teaser campaign for the Q8 facelift ahead of its expected launch in the coming weeks. This will be the first major update for the German carmaker’s flagship ICE SUV, which has been on sale in India since 2020. As part of its midlife update, the Q8 gets minor tweaks to its design and is expected to introduce some new features.
Design tweaks made to the Audi Q8 are minor, but they do give the luxury SUV a breath of fresh air. The dominating grille now gets new inserts, flanked by a pair of revised LED headlights with new DRL signatures. Below all of this is a redesigned bumper with an even more aggressively designed air intakes.
No major changes have been made to the side profile, save for the choice of new alloys. And at the rear, you now get a new set of connected LED tail lamps with OLED tech, allowing you to change the lighting signatures with predefined themes. A tweaked rear bumper rounds off the overall design.
While the overall dashboard layout and design remains identical to the pre-facelift model, Audi has spruced up the Q8’s cabin with new trims and colour choices. While the cabin layout with three digital displays is easy on the eye, it must be noted that competition’s cabin such as the BMW X7 now looks more futuristic.
In terms of features, one can expect it to come with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Bang and Olufsen sound system, four-zone climate control, powered front seats, multi-colour ambient lighting, a digital driver’s display and a powered tailgate.
Passenger safety should be taken care of by multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors with 360-degree camera, electronic stability control and even park assist. It remains to be seen if Audi will offer it with ADAS or not.
No changes are expected here, meaning the Q8 facelift should continue with its existing 340 PS 3-litre six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine teamed with mild-hybrid technology. Drive will be sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.
One can expect the Audi Q8 facelift to command a notable premium over the outgoing model, which is priced from Rs 1.07 crore (ex-showroom). It will renew its rivalry with 7-seater SUVs such as the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS.
