Images of the Hyundai Exter’s cabin have been leaked online ahead of its launch on July 10. It will be the carmaker’s entry-level SUV in India and will slot below the Venue in Hyundai’s lineup. If you’re keen on picking one up, you would be happy to know that pre-launch bookings are underway and the variant-wise powertrain options are out.
The Exter is based on the Grand i10 Nios, and that’s very evident on the inside as the cabin is almost identical to that of the hatchback. Not a bad thing in our opinion, as the Nios has a well appointed interior to begin with. The Korean marque has done well to distinguish it from the hatch by giving the Exter’s cabin an all-black look with splashes of green.
Our first look at its interior also gives us an idea of the features on offer. It gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digitised driver’s display, cruise control, steering-mounted audio controls, and climate control. Earlier, Hyundai confirmed it will get a sunroof as well as standard six airbags, electronic stability control, and ABS with EBD.

The Exter will be powered by the Grand i10 Nios’ 83PS 1.2-litre petrol engine, teamed with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT. It will also get a CNG kit fitted from the factory, offered with a stick shifter.

For a closer look at the Hyundai Exter’s exterior design, check out this report. We suspect it could be priced from around Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom). The Exter will lock horns with the Tata Punch, Maruti Suzuki Ignis, and Mahindra KUV100 Nxt, as well as some variants of the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
