The E-Class is one of Mercedes’ mainstream sedans that’s yet to get a generational update despite the German luxury marque having already updated its popular models like the A-Class, C-Class, and even the S-Class. But, Mercedes has begun work on the next-generation E-Class which, incidentally, has been spotted on international soil and the latest update about the luxury sedan is with regard to its dashboard design which has leaked.
It is well-known that Mercedes’ new age electric cars get the techy and classy-looking MBUX hyperscreen that spawns the width of the dash, comprising three screens under a glass panel. The E-Class will not get the same, but still gets a rather upmarket-looking dashboard with a digital driver’s display and large landscape-oriented MBUX touchscreen infotainment system.
Also, there’s a large layer of wood-finish trim right ahead of the co-passenger side with sleek AC vents running on top of the dashboard. The unit is finished in black in the leaked image, but you can definitely expect other colour options to be offered. And as with the current car, you can definitely expect a lengthy amount of features on board.
It’s still too early to talk about powertrains as Merc’s best-selling sedan is yet to complete its testing regime. But, you can definitely expect diesel and petrol engines (both hybridised, probably) as well as strong-hybrid powertrain options. Its electric avatar, the EQE sedan, is on sale already.
Mercedes is expected to take the wraps off the new generation E-Class sometime in 2023. You can expect it to come to India by 2024, and it will renew its rivalry with the BMW 5 Series, Audi A6 and the Volvo S90.
