The new Range Rover luxury SUV has been teased ahead of its debut on October 26, 2021. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that the existing model has been on sale from 2012 with frequent updates to keep it fresh. So the next-gen model arriving soon is a much required shot in its armour to keep the Range Rover fresh and more appealing.
Looking at the teaser, it’s safe to say that Land Rover took a safer route by giving the Range Rover an evolutionary design rather than something wildly different. The silhouette looks identical to the current model, but we expect most body panels to be either new or heavily reworked. Even the inserts on the grille are much sleeker and more elegant to look at.
A few other bits that don’t need speculation is the presence of the Pivi Pro infotainment, probably with a larger screen size to keep things minimalist. The SUV should also come loaded with all the latest tech, including rear-wheel steer, latest version of Land Rover’s autonomous driving aid, and of course, Land Rover’s Terrain Response system, which should aid its off-road ability.
A set of 3-litre petrol and diesel engines (probably with mild-hybrid tech) should come as standard. There could also be a plug-in hybrid variant as well as a performance model with JLR’s supercharged V8 engine. An all-electric powertrain could also be on the cards for later.
The new Range Rover will be an alternative to the Mercedes-Benz GLS, BMW X7, and the Lexus LX. We expect the next-gen SUV to be offered in India as the latest iteration of the brand’s flagship.
