Features: The R15 V4 packs an LCD instrument console with display modes: Street and Race. It gets Bluetooth connectivity via the Yamaha Y-Connect app to display Call/SMS/E-mail alerts, and phone battery level but misses out on turn-by-turn navigation. The console even shows a lap timer, and has a shift timing indicator, along with a regular trove of information. In addition to that, the R15 V4 comes with segment-first features such as standard traction control and an optional quickshifter (only for upshifts), while the R15M gets the quickshifter as standard. The bike also has dual horns and a side-stand engine cut-off feature. The indicators are bulb units. The Yamaha R15M gets a colour TFT instrument console with smartphone connectivity which enables the rider to receive call alerts, SMS and e-mail notifications, turn-by-turn navigation, phone battery levels, fuel consumption tracker, last parking location and malfunction notification. Additionally, the bike gets LED indicators.
Engine: Yamaha R15 V4 is powered by a 155cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) which churns out 18.4PS and 14.2Nm. It is linked to a six-speed transmission with a slip-and-assist clutch and even the R15M gets a similar treatment.
Suspension, Brakes & Other Details: The Yamaha R15 V4 is built on a ‘deltabox’ frame which is suspended on a 37mm USD fork and linked monoshock. Braking is handled by a 282mm front and 220mm rear disc with standard dual-channel ABS. It rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped with 100-section front and 140-section rear tubeless tyres. The bike has an 11-litre fuel tank and weighs 141kg (kerb). It comes with 815mm seat height and 170mm of ground clearance.
Rivals: There is no direct competition for the Yamaha R15 V4 in the Indian market as of today, but at this price point, one could still consider buying the Hero Karizma XMR, KTM RC 125, Bajaj Pulsar RS200, and Suzuki Gixxer SF 250.
Variants: The Yamaha R15 V4 comes in two variants: standard and R15M. The R15 V4 standard variant is available in 5 colours including Metallic Red, Dark Knight, Vivid Magenta Metallic, Intensity White and Racing Blue colours.
