Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 Variants

I bought this bike 2 months back. Since then I am fixing one thing or the other. It has stayed dead or in service center for half of the time. I should have bought a Honda. If you want a reliable bike Royal Enfield is the last brand you should look at. Battery Issue (charged it twice then bought a new Exide battery from company then that also died), twichy throttle response, clicking noise from rear shocker, problem with instrument cluster, turning off on high rpm. But I am happy to say this bike is the only problem in my life.

No, it is not reliable especially after it is three years old due to poor electricals and RE’s poor tech know how and application. I was in Leh Ladakh trip but couldn’t complete it despite taking the bike to service centres at Jalandhar, Udhampur and Leh. I lost three batteries in the trip (all overheated and short). MIL light and abs light keeps lighting up. Half of the trip My bike was on the back of pick up truck and now it is in a truck bound for Delhi, totally dead. Serious issue with wiring and sensors but RE has no answer to it. So guys buy an interceptor but don’t take it to remote areas please.

I have slipped disc and tail bone/sciatic pains .. you know how bad it can get. But I can tell you, on a normal day the Interceptor has never caused any issues or never till date have I had any issues because of the seating position on the Interceptor. I can't speak for Himalayan, I am sure it's meant for touring and expect that to be equally comfortable or more. With Interceptor, you cant go wrong that much I could tell trust me.

The Interceptor 650 will marginally have a better seating posture than the Himalayan and hence should give less back pain.But eventually it depends on whether you will utilise the motorcycle for city rides for which Interceptor is best or for off roading for which Himalayan is best.Hope this helps! The seats are too comfortable when we go with pillion rider . Front Foot peg position make little uncomfortable. For long drive singles is recommended because pillion rider thighs will get strained of elevated foot peg.

I am also having the same problem with my Royal Enfield Classic 350 reborn single channel. The problem was started from the day I purchased the bike. Malfunction indication lights glows any time and it continues glowing. Kindly suggest me the solution.

Put the motorcycle on center stand, turn on the vehicle and engage the gear for few seconds. It should resolve your issue.

My vehicle is not due for the second service yet but I would expect to replace my brake pads by that time besides the engine oil and oil filter. Keep aside about Rs 5500 to 6000 for the second service, due at 10K kms.

Second service is at 5000 km, and is just a check over, quite cheap. No oil change. Third service at 10,000 is oil change, check tappets etc.

Correct speed correct gear. 1 gear for initial movement . 2nd gear till 20 kmph , 3rd gear till 40 kmph , 4th gear till 60 kmph , 5th gear 70 kmph - 80 kmph , 6th gear above 80 kmph - ? . For fuel saving we have to monitor 1.Air pressure , Front 32 psi , Rear 36 psi ,2.Every 1000 km engine oil should be topped up in INT 650 .3.In signals engine should to shut down. 4. Important Every 200 km - 250 km chain lubricant should be applied if needed it should be cleaned (Must). 5.Wash the oil cooler every week . 5.Ensure the disk brake clearance every day (Manually). 6. Park the bike in shadow. Have a safe ride

Riding for mileage will take off the fun element in riding and can be detrimental to the health of the bike in the long run. A bike like this is not focused on mileage and neither should the owner be. I suggest you ride in a way that you enjoy the vehicle. You can still expect around 24KPL litre.

I am 5'11 too and find the bike very comfortable. In fact shorter riders may have trouble due to the 804mm seat height and the long reach to the handlebars. Besides the footpegs get in the way when you put your feet down so long legs will help a bit in overcoming that too. There is no other bike in this category in this price bracket. The nearest would be a Triumph which costs almost 3 times as much!

Don't take bro...recently i hv sold my conti gt 650,,,,engine will roast like you hell in summer season,wrist pain,pelvi pain due to seat thickness is lyk very poor,,,thigh support poor,,,i am having riding experience of 15 year,,,bhai save your money royal ke naam pe idiotic design dete...means lyk riding comfort metror 350 is hv great...
