A couple of weeks back, KTM finally launched the fully-kitted out version of the 390 Adventure (i.e. with spoke wheels and adjustable suspension) in India, much to the joy of many off-road enthusiasts in the country. And now, this bike has reached (some) KTM showrooms in India. Now there wasn’t much that was unknown about this bike at this point, but we have some exclusive images.
As you can see, the bodywork of the KTM 390 Adventure stays unchanged, but unlike the standard 390 Adventure, which comes in a Dark Galvano Black and Atlantic Blue paint scheme, this one is available only in Rally Orange, to better resemble KTM’s legendary Dakar Rally bikes.
This version of the 390 Adventure continues using a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel setup, but now it gets spoke wheels with black anodised aluminum rims, which should make it much more capable of taking a beating on hardcore off-road rides. It keeps the Metzeler Tourance on/off-road rubber as well, but it goes without saying that these tyres are running tubes inside. So punctures are going to be a bit of a pain to fix.The WP Apex front fork has been reworked, and although it has the same 170mm of travel as before, it now gets adjustability for both rebound and preload. You can see the fork tops here, on the right side, you have 30 clicks of rebound adjustment.
And on the left, you have 30 clicks of compression adjustment. Both these rebound and compression screws are hand adjustable. That said, there is no preload adjustability at the front. So setting sag will purely be left to the rear monoshock. That said, this rebound and compression adjustability will let you really fine-tune how the 390 ADV behaves on a variety of terrain and with different amount of weight on board.
The rear monoshock has its standard 10-step preload adjustability using the ring on top of the shock. And you can also set the rear rebound using the screw located at the bottom of the shock. It still retains its 177mm of travel though.
Apart from these though, there are no other mechanical changes to the bike. It continues with its 373cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor that makes 43.5PS and 37Nm. It also still retains all its electronics such as its 5-inch colour TFT dash with smartphone connectivity. You also still get the 6-axis IMU that helps power the traction control and cornering ABS, along with a quick shifter, riding modes (Off-road & Street) as well off-road ABS.
This KTM 390 Adventure is priced at Rs 3,60,880 (ex-showroom), making it Rs 22,134 more expensive than the standard 390 Adventure with alloy wheels and non-adjustable suspension. While it is an expensive bike, the additional cost over the standard version is worth it, we think, for hardcore off-road adventurers.
