The launch of the 2024 TVS Apache RR310 is just around the corner. We compile a list of expected updates and things we would like to see

The TVS Apache RR310 was originally launched in 2017 and since then, has received many updates. There is currently a lot of competition in the market with manufacturers launching new products to expand their portfolio aggressively. The RR310 is TVS’s flagship sportbike so we are obviously expecting the upcoming model to be the best one yet. The 2024 model is all set to launch on 16th September and we are surely excited to get our hands on it. In this article, we have listed down updates that we can expect to see and things that we think would make it an even better package than it already is.

What We Expect

From the spy shot that recently emerged online, all that we see is aerodynamic winglets on the fairing. The RR310 has always been a really attractive sportbike so TVS seems to have just added in a couple of design elements to enhance its appeal. We all know that aerodynamic winglets only come into play at really high speeds so on the RR310, it is just for better aesthetic appeal.

The engine in the current RR310 puts out 34PS @ 9700rpm and a peak torque of 27.3Nm @ 7700rpm. This engine was slightly updated for the RTR 310 with lighter pistons, a new tune, and higher compression. With all of these changes, the new RTR 310 delivers 35.6PS @ 9700rpm and a peak torque of 28.7Nm @ 6650rpm, making it slightly more powerful. We can expect TVS to carry forward these changes to the updated RR310.

Another much-needed upgrade on the RR310 is a quickshifter. This is something we have again experienced on the RTR310 and it works quite well. Additionally, we can expect TVS to update their electronics package with some new features or just finetune them for a more seamless experience.

While the RR310 has always been an engaging motorcycle to ride, the engine still has a displacement of 312.12cc, putting it at a sight handicap when compared to one of its main competitors, the KTM RC390. Developing an entirely new engine is a lot of work, but it would be great if TVS could get power figures up to the 40PS mark.

The bike is currently available in three colour schemes: Black, Red, and a Race Replica option which is only available with the BTO (Built To Order) kit. What we want to see is more colour schemes on offer, maybe the flashy Fury Yellow or the Sepang Blue colourways that we have seen on the RTR 310. In my opinion, the exhaust is the only styling element that does not go well with the sharp styling of the bike. It is quite a large unit, making it seem a little disproportionate, so an update there would make a huge difference.

The vertical TFT dash on the RR310 is unique and stands apart, no doubt. TVS also offers a lot of connectivity features. Although, this dash is something that might be appreciated only by a select few. A redesigned TFT screen that has a more traditional shape and layout should make it easier to read and help it appeal to a wider audience. Additionally, It would be nice if there are new accessories like a rear seat cowl made available which could transform the RR 310 into a proper track-day bike when needed - who needs pillions on the race track anyway. Conversely, when you do have to carry a pillion with you in the city or on the highway, the lack of rear grab rails can be a serious concern on the current bike. It would be great if TVS could add proper pillion grab rails on the updated bike.

Currently, the RR310 is priced starting at Rs 2.72 lakh (ex-showroom), making it an affordable sportsbike in its segment. The new model is expected to carry a slight premium but maybe TVS can work their magic and offer the new model at the same price?
