The Porsche Macan EV will be the second all-electric nameplate after the sportscar marque’s super successful performance EV, the Taycan

It’s not hidden news that Porsche has been working on the all-electric Macan. Before the production-spec model arrives probably around 2024, these spy shots of the Macan EV sprinting around the Nurburgring gives us an insight into what to expect from the sportcar marque’s second all-electric vehicle.

It’s still a bit too early to talk about design as the pictures you see here are of the prototype. Though it has those large fake headlamps to freak you out, keen-eyed viewers will notice the cut-out for the sleek headlamps placed on top. It’ll get air dams below, which should come useful for cooling vital components.

The profile also looks a bit vague at the moment due to the camouflage elements used to trick your eyes (the bumpers have fake exhausts!). But what we can definitely tell is it’ll have connected tail lamps and large alloys. Plus, the presence of a pop out spoiler gives away the fact that the electric SUV will have a host of active aero wizardry.

Inside, the Macan EV features a cocktail of parts from the 911 and the Taycan. For instance, the placement of the curved instrument display and touchscreen infotainment reminds us of the Taycan. While the placement of climate controls (thankfully with physical controls) around the gear lever does give a hint of the 911

Reportedly, the Macan EV will be based on what Porsche calls, PPE platform, that’s largely similar to the Taycan’s architecture. Exact technical specifications aren’t out yet, but we’ll keep it simple for you. Like the Taycan, you can expect either single or dual motor options in various tunes and multiple battery pack options.

The Porsche Macan EV, then, will be the second all-electric model after the Taycan from the sportscar maker. It’ll also span a ICE-powered model that will be on sale alongside its greener sibling.
