Ola S1 Pro Vs Honda Activa e: Image Comparison

Which electric scooter should you consider?

S1 PRO VS ACTIVA e

Ola Electric recently launched the Ola S1 Gen 3 series in India. It consists of the S1 X, S1 X+, S1 Pro and S1 Pro+. In terms of the price tag, the Ola S1 Pro sits as a perfect competitor to the Honda Activa e:. Lets have a closer look at the comparison of these electric family scooters:

Design

In terms of design, the Ola S1 Pro Gen 3 looks more or less the same as before. It gets a slick unibody design which makes it look minimalistic. The Gen 3 continues with the neatly integrated projector headlight and indicators on the front apron. Overall, the Ola S1 Pro Gen 3 does look like a compact and good looking family scooter for the Indian masses. The Honda Activa e: gets the familiar Honda design language. The Activa e looks like a conventional scooter with some neat modern touches. Overall, the Activa e: looks quite appealing as a modern day family scooter.

Performance

The Ola S1 Pro Gen3 gets 3kWh and 4kWh battery pack options. It is capable of producing a peak power output of 11kW. Ola claims  that the S1 Pro Gen 3 has a top speed of 124kmph . Along with that Ola also claims a range output of 242km for the S1 Pro.

The Honda Activa e: gets twin 1.5kWh swappable batteries providing a combined output of 3kWh. It produces a peak power output of 6kW, which is almost half of what the S1 Pro offers. Honda claims a top speed of 80kmph for the Activa e:. The claimed range for the Activa e: is 102km, which is less than half of what the S1 Pro offers.

Underpinnings

The Ola S1 Pro Gen 3 gets a telescopic fork and a monoshock. For braking duties it gets disc brakes on both ends. It also gets a combi-brake setup for improved braking performance. The Gen 3 scooter also has a brake-by-wire system.

The Honda Activa e: also gets a telescopic fork and an adjustable monoshock with a 3 step preload adjustability. It gets a front disc and rear drum brake setup.

Features

The Ola S1 Pro gets a 7-inch touchscreen display which supports smartphone connectivity. It gets Ola maps, SMS/call alerts and music controls. It also gets all LED lights. To make it more user friendly, Ola has given the S1 Pro four riding modes: Eco, Normal, Sports and Hyper. The Eco and Normal modes are tuned for maximum efficiency with usable power, while the Sport and Hyper modes are tuned for maximum performance.

The Honda Activa e: also gets a 7-inch TFT display but it can be controlled from the handlebar switches. This display gets all the crucial information along with smartphone connectivity which allows turn-by-turn navigation and SMS/call alerts. It gets all LED light. The Activa e: gets 3 riding modes: Econ, Standard and Sport. The Econ mode provides the best efficiency, Standard mode provides the best combination between performance and efficiency. The Sport mode provides maximum performance.

Practicality

In terms of practicality, the Ola S1 Pro gets a 34-litre underseat storage, which is absolutely massive. It also gets 2 cubby holes on the inner side of the front apron along with 2 utility hooks. It gets a USB C charging port for added convenience. The Ola gets a decently sized floorboard to carry those extra groceries with ease.

The Honda Activa e: gets very little underseat storage because of the twin swappable batteries. It gets 2 cubby holes on the inner side of the front apron along with 2 utility hooks. The Activa also gets a USB charging port for added convenience.

ZigSays

In terms of pricing, both these scooters are very closely matched. The pricing for the Ola S1 Pro Gen 3 starts at Rs 1,14,000 (ex-showroom Delhi) and for the Activa E: it is Rs 1,17,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).

The newly updated Ola S1 Pro Gen3 offers improved range and performance. If the S1 Pro gets anything near the claimed 242km range, it will still be a lot more efficient than the Activa e:. The only issue could be Ola’s not so good overall build quality and after sales service experience.

The Honda Activa e: offers a claimed range of 102km and a peak power output of 6kW, both of which are not even close to what Ola is claiming. However, the swappable batteries still make it a bit more convenient to use on a day to day basis. Another important point is that the customers can expect a much more reliable product if it will come from Honda.
