As seen in the table, the biggest shocker here is the steep drop in TVS Apache sales, which includes the RTR 160, RTR 180, RTR 200 4V and RTR 160 4V. The production of the Apache range has dropped from 43,589 units in April 2021 to only 17,072 units in April 2022. This can largely be accounted for by the global semiconductor chip shortage issue that is haunting the automotive industry.
Another major name missing from this list is the Bajaj Pulsar range, which comprises the Pulsar 150, Pulsar NS200, Pulsar RS200, and Pulsar NS160. In April 2021, the Pulsar range saw 26,781 units sold; however, in April 2022, only 3,201 units were sold, which is a massive 88 per cent decrease in sales.
Yamaha has had a good month as its FZ range, which consists of the FZ, FZ-S and FZ-X, have sold like hot cakes together with the R15 and MT-15 bikes. The newly launched MT-15 V2 definitely helped Yamaha rake in a good amount of sales. Honda grabbed the second spot with their evergreen Unicorn, which sells in good numbers consistently every month.
