The long-awaited all-new Royal Enfield Himalayan has been finally launched at Motoverse 2023. The specs were out nearly a month ago and we have also ridden the bike. And now we finally have its price.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is priced at Rs 2,69,000 (ex-showroom Chennai). This price tag is an introductory one and is valid in India till December 31st, 2023. It has also been launched in UK with prices starting from GBP 5750 (approximately Rs 6 lakh) and in Europe (Spain, France, Italy and Germany) with prices starting from EUR 5900 (around Rs 5.37 lakh).
It is available in three variants: Base, Pass and Summit and five colour options: Hanle Black and Kamet White (Summit variant), Slate Himalayan Salt and Slate Poppy Blue (Pass Variant) and Kaza Brown (Base). The accessories for the ADV are available in two themes - Adventure and Rally.
For the European and UK markets, the Hanle Black and Kamet White variants get spoked wheels with tubeless tyres. Currently, the bike is not available with that option in India. Royal Enfield has not given any confirmation regarding the timeline for the same, but they are still working on it. So, if you want the spoked wheels with tubeless tyres, you’ll have to wait a while for them.
Here are the variant-wise prices:
All-new Royal Enfield Himalayan (ex-showroom Chennai) |
Royal Enfield Himalayan 411 (ex-showroom Delhi) |
Base: Kaza Brown - Rs 2,69,000 |
Gravel Grey - Rs 2,15,900 |
Pass: Slate Himalayan Salt / Slate Himalayan Poppy Blue - Rs 2,74,000 |
Pine Green / Dune Brown - Rs 2,22,400 |
Summit: Kamet White - Rs 2,79,000; Hanle Black - Rs 2,84,000 |
Glacier Blue / Granite Black / Sleet Black - Rs 2,28,490 |
Even though the price tag is only an introductory one, it still offers great value for money. The all-new Himalayan’s main rival is the KTM 390 Adventure and the upcoming Hero XPulse 400, after it is launched.
Well, everything. The motorcycle is an all-new offering from Royal Enfield in every aspect. It is powered by a 452cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine (the manufacturer’s 1st liquid-cooled motor) producing 40PS at 8,000rpm and 40Nm at 5,500rpm, with 33Nm of torque available from the 2,500rpm mark. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch. The suspension setup consists of a 43mm upside-down (USD) fork with 200mm wheel travel and a monoshock with 200mm wheel travel. Braking duties are taken care of by a 320mm disc with double piston caliper at the front and a 270mm disc with single piston caliper at the rear with switchable dual-channel ABS.
It has a 90/90-21 Ceat Gripp RE F front and 140/80 R 17 Ceat Gripp Rad Steel RE rear tyre setup. The Himalayan 450 gets a ground clearance of 230mm, kerb weight of 196kg and a fuel tank capacity of 17 litres. It comes with a standard seat height of 825mm (adjustable to 845mm and a low seat height version of 805mm (adjustable to 825mm).
Features-wise, it gets an all-new round 4-inch TFT instrument console with integrated full-fledged Google Maps navigation and music and phone controls. It also gets two riding modes: Eco and Performance.
The new Royal Enfield Himalayan is not only the perfect evolution of the Himalayan 411 but it also plays an important role in the brand’s evolution as it is the first Royal Enfield bike with liquid-cooled engine. With the 450cc Himalayan, Royal Enfield will be able to cater to a much wider global audience as it provides a good balance of performance and off-road credibility in the sub-500cc segment. As for the Indian market, it will also give ADV enthusiasts a powerful, affordable option in the sub-500cc space which, up until now, had only the KTM 390 Adventure.
