Will get sportier bumpers and front grille, snazzier LED DRLs, OLED tail lamps, and new alloy wheels.
Cabin upgrades will include connected car tech, Audi’s latest MMI UI, and new graphics for the digital driver’s display.
It will be powered by a 245PS 2-litre petrol engine that should be paired to a 7-speed DCT gearbox and an all-wheel drivetrain.
Will rekindle its rivalry with BMW X3, Lexus NX, Mercedes-Benz GLC, and Volvo XC60.
It’s been well over a year since Audi revealed the facelifted Q5 SUV in the overseas market, and now, the carmaker will retail the luxury SUV in India by November 2021. It’s the first major update to the second-gen Q5, and the new edition not only looks sportier, but also packs more tech.
The ‘new’ bits on the 2021 Q5 start off with a fresh face, thanks to a sharper and sportier single-piece front grille, sporty bumpers, as well as swankier LED DRLs. Other than the new alloy wheels, the real party trick of the design lies in the OLED tail lamps. With units featuring three tiles and six segments, the tail lamps can change designs and signatures according to the mode selected. There’s also a proximity sensor, which lights up when a user is approaching the Q5.
Inside, the 2021 Q5 may look largely similar to the model before it, but there have been upgrades in the form of the 10.1-inch infotainment system featuring Audi’s latest MMI UI with touch inputs or voice commands and a virtual cockpit with updated graphic layouts.
Other feature highlights include connected car tech, Amazon’s Alexa virtual assistant, tri-zone climate control, ambient lighting, a premium sound system, a wireless phone charger, and powered front seats.
While the model sold abroad gets multiple powertrain options, the India-spec model will be powered by a 2-litre petrol engine like the A6, producing 245PS and 370Nm. It should be paired with a 7-speed DCT gearbox that distributes power to all four wheels. The Q5 can also be specced with adaptive air suspension as an option.
Like was the case with the pre-facelift model, Audi will locally assemble the 2021 Q5 SUV, due to which we expect prices to start from Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Its rivals will include the Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3, Lexus NX300h, and Volvo XC60.
