The Kia Syros has been unveiled as the brand’s latest SUV which comes with Kia’s new design language, premium interiors, and a lot of features. The South Korean automaker will reveal the prices of the Syros sometime in January and it will slot between the Sonet and Seltos. Bookings of the new Syros will open on 3rd January, 2025 with customer deliveries starting from early February 2025.

Although the Syros sits above the Sonet, it still falls under the sub-four metre SUV category. However, the wheelbase of the Syros is longer than the Sonet, which can result in more cabin space, especially for the rear seat passengers.
The Kia Syros features a modern and quirky design language that is in line with the brand’s new models, such as the EV3, EV6, and EV9. To start with, the front end of the Syros is quite upright with air inlets placed in the lower part of the bumper. The vertically stacked headlights are similar to the EV9 and Carnival, featuring ‘I’ pattern daytime running lights (DRLs).
As seen in the pictures, the side profile of the Syros is reminiscent of the Skoda Yeti and Nissan Evalia. Additionally, it gets chunky wheel cladding with integrated silver trim on the doors and dual-tone alloy wheels. Not to mention the flush door handles, which complete the sleek look.
The rear end of the Syros is upright and features L-shaped taillights placed by either side of the rear window. On the other hand, the turn indicators and reversing lights are positioned on the rear fender. The silver trim on the black cladding from the front end and side panel also continue here.
Inside, the Syros features a premium and modern-day interior, which also takes inspiration from its elder siblings. There is a single panel unit comprising a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 5-inch climate control panel, and a 12.3-inch all-digital driver’s display. These displays together measure 30-inches, including the bezels. The cabin also gets a D-cut two-spoke steering wheel, multiple dual-tone themes, and multicolour ambient lighting.
Unlike the conventional placement of the electronic parking brake on the centre console, Kia has given it on the dashboard. Whereas, the centre console houses a gear selector and a few switches, including engine start/stop button.
The front and rear seat comes with ventilation functions and the buttons are placed by the door unlock handle. A highlight of the rear seats is the reclining and sliding function. Plus, there is an 8-speaker Harman Kardon sound system for all the audiophiles.
Apart from the screens, seat ventilation, and music system, other key features of the Syros include a panoramic sunroof, a wireless phone charger, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 4-way powered driver seat. Safety equipment includes Level 2 ADAS, 6 standard airbags, a 360-degree camera with a blind spot monitor , hill hold assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and electronic stability control (ESC).
Powering the Syros is a 1-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that makes 120 PS and 172 Nm, and comes mated to a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. There is also a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine producing 116 PS and 250 Nm. This unit is paired with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission.
The prices of the new Kia Syros are expected in January 2025 and given its length of 3,995 mm, it will rival the likes of the Skoda Kylaq, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza. However, Kia has bestowed it with premium features, which also puts the Syros in the competition with the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and Toyota Hyryder.
