The recently launched Royal Enfield Goan Classic 350 is the brand’s first bobber offering in the 350cc segment and it goes up against the Jawa Perak. Although both bikes are retro-style bobbers, the question is which one has more to offer? In this image comparison we will be giving you a detailed breakdown of what each brings to the table and also try to answer the question, which bobber is for you.
Although both bikes feature a retro-inspired design language, the Jawa Perak manages to stand out with its looks. The bike feels more like something that has been taken straight out of the 1940s, thanks to its headlight design and overall profile.
The Royal Enfield Goan Classic 350 on the other hand, feels like a modified Classic 350, with some changes to make the bike more of a bobber. But when compared to the Jawa Perak, the Goan looks more premium. This is because of the chrome highlights that Royal Enfield has added here and there on colour schemes like the Trip Teal. The white wall tyres also gives it a authentic retro appeal.
The Jawa Perak feels a lot more subtle whereas the Goan Classic is a bit more flashy. If you are someone who wants subtle looks then the Jawa Perak makes more sense. But if you want something that draws more attention then the Goan Classic 350 is the bike for you.
The Royal Enfield Goan Classic 350 is powered by a 349cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine which outputs 20PS and 27Nm. This engine is a long stroke motor that offers a torquey riding experience, which we have come to associate with retro roadsters.
The Jawa Perak, on the other hand, gets a more modern engine, which is a 334cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor that outputs 29.9PS and 30Nm. The riding experience this motor provides won’t be as torquey as what the Goan Classic 350 provides. This is because the motor produces most of its torque at a higher rpm. The higher power output will also translate to higher cruising speeds.
Overall, the performance and riding experience both bikes have to offer will be quite different. But if you want that authentic retro riding experience then the Royal Enfield Goan 350 will be the bike for you. We recently had a chance to ride the Goan Classic and here’s what we think about its real world performance.
The Goan Classic 350’s main advantage over the Jawa Perak is its larger disc sizes, it gets a 300mm front and a 270mm rear disc. Whereas the Perak sports a smaller 280mm front and 240mm rear disc.
But where the Perak shines is in its lower kerb weight of 185kg, which is 12kg lighter than the Goan Classic 350. Which for perspective has a kerb weight of 197kg.
The Jawa Perak is a bit too plain when it comes to features. It gets a single-pod instrument console with a digital inset. The console consists of an analogue speedometer, with the digital inset displaying essential information like fuel level, trip and odometer readouts.
The Goan Classic 350 offers a similar setup, but Royal Enfield has given customers the option to get the Royal Enfield tripper navigation module for turn-by-turn navigation via the Royal Enfield app.
Although both the bobbers offer a similar retro styling and designs, they differ greatly when it comes to riding experience. The Goan Classic 350 feels a bit more retro to ride thanks to its air-cooled long stroke motor.
The Jawa Perak manages to offer a unique styling and design which we haven’t seen on other retro bikes. In that sense it stands out quite a bit. Add in the modern engine and better performance, it feels like a modern bike in a retro package.
When comparing the prices between two the Jawa Perak is a more affordable offering coming at a starting price of Rs 2,13,187 (ex-showroom Delhi).
Whereas the Royal Enfield Goan Classic 350 starts at Rs 2,35,000. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the prices:
Colours |
Price (ex-showroom Delhi) |
Purple Haze and Shack Black |
Rs 2,35,000 |
Rave Red and Trip Teal |
Rs 2,38,000 |
In conclusion, if you are looking for a retro bobber that can offer both the looks and riding experience you’d expect from an old school bike then the Goan Classic 350 is the ideal bike for you. But if you’re a bit more budget conscious and want something that can offer the looks of a retro bobber but with a modern engine, then the Jawa Perak makes more sense.
