(Update: The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 has been launched. Check out the details here.)
Royal Enfield is all set to launch the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 tomorrow and it will be the second bike from the brand to feature a liquid-cooled engine. The launch will take place on July 16, 2024 at 11:30 PM (Indian time) and the launch itself should happen by about 12.30-1AM. Until then, here’s everything we know about the bike so far.
We expect the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 to come at a price that is anywhere from Rs 2.20 lakh to Rs 2.30 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price range, the Guerrilla 450 will be more affordable than the Triumph Speed 400. For a more detailed breakdown, check out our price analysis here.
The Guerrilla 450 comes with a typical retro-roadster like design, with its round headlight, fork gaiters, and smaller 17-inch alloy wheels, similar to that of the Hunter 350. Whereas the Himalayan 450 is an ADV, with its raised front fender, wide ADV style handlebar and mid-set footpegs.
The Guerrilla 450 gets a telescopic fork, whereas the Himalayan gets a longer travel inverted fork. Overall, both bikes do share a bit of things in common such as the engine and even the tail section, but they are in the end different motorcycles made for different purposes.
With the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450, Royal Enfield is trying to make a fun roadster that can easily munch miles on the highway, while also being fun in the urban jungle. Himalayan 450, on the other hand, is for those who want the fun to continue when the roads end.
The Guerrilla 450 will be powered by the same 452cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine as the Himalayan 450 dubbed ‘Sherpa’, it produces 40PS and 40Nm.
When it comes to suspension, as mentioned above the Guerrilla 450 gets a telescopic fork and a monoshock, it rolls on what appears to be 17-inch tyres at both ends with CEAT Gripp XL tyres. Braking duties are taken care of by disc brakes at both ends. The bike offers a typical roadster-like riding posture, with its wide and raised handlebars combined with the mid-set footpegs.
As far as features are concerned, we know that the bike will be offered in two variants as per recent spy shots. The entry level variant with a similar semi-digital instrument console as the Hunter 350 and the Meteor 350, with the Royal Enfield tripper navigation pod as an optional extra for turn-by-turn navigation.
The premium variant will offer the same 5-inch TFT console as the Himalayan 450, with smartphone connectivity and full fledged navigation via Google maps.
In terms of colours, the premium variant will likely be offered in dual-tone colours schemes, whereas the more affordable entry level variant is likely to get single-tone colours.
The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 will go up against the other retro and neo-retro roadster offerings in the market such as the Triumph Speed 400, Harley-Davidson X440, the Hero Mavrick 440 and Husqvarna Svartpilen 401.
