Hot on the heels of our first good look at the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 LC and a teaser video of the bike being tested put out by Eicher Motors’ head honcho Siddhartha Lal, another spy video of the new Himalayan has emerged and this time it was spotted alongside the upcoming Super Meteor 650.
While the video doesn’t reveal any information about these two bikes which we didn’t already know of, both look quite close to their production guises. So, we can assume that their market launches are just around the corner.
The Super Meteor 650 will be Royal Enfield’s cruiser based on their 650cc twin platform, which debuted with the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. So the Super Meteor runs the same 650c parallel twin motor which should put out the same 47.6PS and 52Nm as its platform siblings.
In typical cruiser fashion, the Super Meteor 650 can be seen with a bulbous fuel tank, forward set footpegs and a swept back handlebar. The spy video shows the bike in all black with zero branding on it, which in our opinion does look rather cool. And keeping the old school cruiser theme in mind, it has a round headlight, taillight and indicators, all of which appear to be bulb-type.
The Himalayan 450 LC seen in this spy video does show some basic resemblance to the current Himalayan 411 such as the shape of the fuel tank and a tank-mounted frame that holds the headlight. Of course, as seen in the earlier teaser, this will be an LED headlight. More interesting though are the rear LED indicators, which integrate the taillight in them (like we have seen on some Harley-Davidson bikes in the past). Suspension-wise, it gets an upside down fork and a swingarm-mounted rear monoshock.
The bike will be powered by an all-new 450cc liquid-cooled engine, making it Royal Enfield’s first liquid-cooled bike. We expect this to produce power and torque figures in the vicinity of 45PS and 45Nm, which should really take the fight to the likes of the KTM 390 Adventure.
We expect the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 LC to make its debut at the 2022 EICMA show in Milan this October, while its official India launch might happen at Rider Mania 2022, slated for November.
The Super Meteor, on the other hand, should be launched about three months later, in the first quarter of calendar year 2023. As for pricing, our expectation for the Himalayan 450 LC is around Rs 2.28 lakh (ex-showroom), while we think the Super Meteor 650 might come in at Rs 3.35 lakh (ex-showroom).
