The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is a great machine for hitting trails, going off-roading, and even long distance touring. Could it become even more off-road focused? It seems so, as the upcoming Rally Edition of the ADV has been spotted testing on our shores.

The new off-road specific bits include a more upswept exhaust (compared to the one on the regular model) and it looks thicker as well, which should provide a more gnarly exhaust note. Staying at the rear, a new tail cowl can also be seen in the photos and the bike gets a flatter, single-piece seat as opposed to the split-seat setup on the regular Himalayan 450. Also spotted are tubeless cross-spoked wheels. At the front-end, the bike gets knuckle guards and while these details are not visible in these spy shots, we expect the Royal Enfield bike to get a raised handlebar and fully adjustable inverted fork as well.

The rest of the bike will most likely remain untouched and will be powered by the same 452cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing 40PS at 8,000rpm and 40Nm at 5,500rpm. It is paired to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch. A 43mm inverted fork with 200mm wheel travel and a monoshock with 200mm wheel travel form the suspension setup of the bike while the stopping the ADV is a 320mm front disc brake with a double-piston caliper and a 270mm rear disc brake with a single-piston caliper with switchable dual-channel ABS available as standard.

The Himalayan 450 rolls on a 90/90-21 Ceat Gripp RE F front and 140/80 R 17 Ceat Gripp Rad Steel RE tyre setup. In terms of features, it gets a round, 4-inch TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity and Google Maps navigation. The Rally Edition variant of the Himalayan 450 is expected to be launched sometime next year, and could command a premium over the standard variant.
