The Royal Enfield adventure bike will be the first one to pack a liquid-cooled engine, and is really close to launch

A new sunny day brings hot new spy pictures of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, and while the ADV looks production-ready, it is covered by black plastic cladding. This is likely done to hide the production-ready bits of the bike, which we’ve already had a good look at when it was spied earlier in the same avatar.

Nevertheless, despite the bike being covered, we can still see the strong ADV styling with the beak-like front fender and split seats. For a clearer visual of the bike, check out this story.

We also get a clearer look at the brace mounted right from the end of the rider’s seat. It extends all the way to the luggage rack, easily doubling up as a pillion grab rail as well as saddle mounts. Oddly enough, the pillion footpeg looks awfully close to the rider.

Powering the Himalayan is a 450cc liquid-cooled engine which should give a tough competition to the KTM 390 Adventure making similar power and torque figures. For reference, the 390 ADV makes 43.5PS and 37Nm. You can head to this story to find out what the upcoming Himalayan will sound like.

The Himalayan 450 gets premium hardware, including the Showa USD fork and monoshock. It may even get fancier kit, like cruise control, which you can read about here.

Realistically, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 may debut in the next couple of months, as the bikemaker is long due on a launch. We expect it to be priced at around Rs 2.80 lakh (ex-showroom). Once here, it will go up against the KTM 390 Adventure and the upcoming Hero XPulse 400. Head here for our final thoughts about the upcoming ADV.
