[UPDATE: The Royal Enfield Scram 411 has been launched in India. For pricing, specs and other details, head to our launch report.]
Royal Enfield's new scrambler brochure has leaked online, giving out details and revealing the bike’s name as RE Scram 411. The Scram 411 will be a more affordable, toned-down version of the Royal Enfield Himalayan adventure motorcycle.
On the overall, the Scram 411 has the same silhouette as the Himalayan, with a retro style design. However, the new bike features a smaller front wheel, which is most likely a 19-inch, with a fatter tyre. As a result, the ground clearance has been reduced to 200mm from the Himalayan’s 220mm. That said, the new motorcycle should still be capable enough when it comes to tackling the trails.
Other than that, the bike can also be seen featuring a new disc brake rotor, similar to the one on the RE Meteor 350, which is a 300mm unit.
In terms of what is new, the brochure shows that the Scram 411 gets a new single seat setup for a more comfortable riding experience along with a new cast metal headlamp cowl to go with the scrambler appeal. In addition to that, the bike also gets new side panels with horizontal slits, small fuel tank extensions and an offset circular semi-digital instrument cluster (similar to the one on the Meteor 350) with tripper navigation as an accessory. All these additions work well for the bike to take on the Scrambler look.
Powering the Scram 411 is the same powertrain as the Himalayan: a 411cc single-cylinder counterbalanced air-oil-cooled engine, paired to a five-speed gearbox. The bike can be expected to perform the same as the Himalayan, producing 24.3PS and 32Nm.
The brochure and leaked images also reveal a bunch of Scram 411 merchandise, apparel, and accessories like keychains and t-shirts. Expect the bike to come with functional optional accessories too.
The Scram 411 can be expected to launch by the end of this month or early next month and can be priced slightly lesser than the Himalayan at around Rs 1,95,000 (ex-showroom). The expected pricing along with the specifications would certainly make the bike a package.
The Scram 411 will rival the newly launched Yezdi Scrambler, priced at Rs 2.04 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi). The bike will also be a perfect middle ground between the Hero Xpulse 200 - which is more capable off road - and the Himalayan, which is balanced but more expensive.
