The Scram 411 is Rs 11,000 more affordable than its ADV sibling

Months of waiting and speculations cease today, as Royal Enfield launches its first motorcycle for 2022 – the Scram 411.

What’s The Price? Who Are Its Rivals?

The Royal Enfield Scram 411 has been priced at Rs 2.03 lakh, making it Rs 11,000 more affordable than the Royal Enfield Himalayan priced at Rs 2.14 lakh onwards. The Scram 411 faces the heat from the Yezdi Scrambler (Rs 2.05 lakh) and even the Yezdi Adventure (Rs 2.10 lakh) (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).

Royal Enfield Scram Colour Variant Ex-showroom Delhi Price
Graphite Red / Graphite Yellow / Graphite Blue Rs 2,03,085
Blazing Black / Skyline Blue Rs 2,04,921
White Flame / Silver Spirit Rs 2,08,593

What’s New?
The Royal Enfield Scram 411 is intended to be an affordable and easy-going alternative to the Himalayan. The biggest change is the use of a 19-inch front wheel instead of a 21-inch unit seen on the Himalayan. Furthermore, the Scram does away with the headlight brace, windshield, luggage rack and even the multi-dial console.

Instead, the Scram features a fork-mounted headlight with a cowl, monopod instrument console and new side panels. Royal Enfield has even given the bike a new single-piece seat. All the changes have made the Scram lighter, resulting in a dry weight of 185kg.

Royal Enfield has also made changes to the suspension. Though the Scram 411 uses the 41mm telescopic fork from the Himalayan, the suspension travel has been reduced to 190mm (10mm less than the ADV). The ground clearance of the Scram stands at 200mm, 20mm less than the Himalayan’s.

What’s Unchanged?
The Royal Enfield Scram continues to use the same 411cc air-cooled long-stroke motor that makes 24.3PS at 6500rpm and 32Nm at 4250rpm. That is exactly the same as the Himalayan. However, with less weight to lug around, the Scram should offer a more engaging ride.

The Indian bikemaker has even retained the 300mm/240mm disc brake setup from its ADV sibling; however, there’s no option to disengage the rear ABS unlike the Himalayan.

ZigSays
The Royal Enfield Scram 411 makes the Himalayan platform more accessible, especially given that the Himalayan’s price has shot up by Rs 24,000 in the last one year. This bike is not just lighter on the pockets, but more friendly and apt for everyday duties.
