The Royal Enfield Scram has been spotted at what looks like a dealer yard, hinting at an imminent launch, presumably by the end of this month. Going by the spy shots, it looks like Royal Enfield will offer the Scram in a variety of eye-catching colours.
One of the bikes gets a black colour scheme with red highlights and gold pinstripes. This livery is identical to the Sunset Strip colourway of the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. A closer look reveals another motorcycle parked behind, with a greyish colour scheme on the tank and yellow Scram 411 badging on the side panel.
The second bike gets an attention-grabbing white colour scheme with red and black highlights along with a large red ‘R’ logo on the fuel tank. The side panels get the Scram 411 badging in a sporty looking red colour. Further enhancing the aesthetics is a red rim sticker. Royal Enfield does know a thing or two about making art on two wheels, and these colours look absolutely gorgeous.
The Royal Enfield Scram will feature a fork clamp mounted headlight with a minimalist looking nacelle. Continuing with the minimalist theme, the motorcycle features an offset semi-digital instrument cluster with an optional Tripper Navigation pod. There’s no windshield or tank braces like the Royal Enfield Himalayan. And instead of a split seat setup, Royal Enfield has opted for a single piece ribbed seat sans tail rack in the Scram.
Another major difference lies in the underpinnings. While the bike gets the same fork and linked monoshock as the Himalayan, it in fact rides on a smaller front wheel, presumably a 19-inch unit. The front tyre is also fatter than the one in the Himalayan. We already know from the recently leaked brochure scans that the ground clearance has gone down slightly. That said, the Himalayan still looks capable enough as an overall package to take on the trails.
Expect Royal Enfield to price different colour schemes at different price points, just like how it does with the rest of the motorcycle in its lineup. That said, expect the base bike to cost around Rs 1.95 lakh (ex-showroom). This will make it around Rs 20,000 less expensive than the Royal Enfield Himalayan. It will go directly against the Yezdi Scrambler. Other alternatives include the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 and Honda CB350RS.
