TVS Eurogrip is all set to go toe-to-toe with major international tyre makers like Pirelli, Metzeler and the likes, as the brand has come up with a range of tyres designed for big bikes. Called the Roadhound, the newly unveiled range of road-biased touring-oriented tyres are for bikes ranging from 650cc-1000cc.
Additionally, the company also unveiled the E Torq, a low rolling-resistance tyre designed specifically for electric scooters, and Duratrail EB+ (trail-friendly tyres for small capacity bikes), Beamer HS+ and YS+ (road-biased tyres for small capacity bikes). TVS Eurogrip also introduced the Climber XC in the offroad segment for cross-country, motocross and enduro segment. These block pattern tyres are available for 18-inch to 21-inch wheels, and are road-legal as well.
The Roadhound range is available in both Radial and X-Ply constructions, with sizes ranging from 100/80-17 52H TL (front and rear) to 120/70 ZR 17 (58W) TL (front) and 180/55 ZR 17 (73W) TL (rear), making it suitable for motorcycles such as the Kawasaki Z650, Honda CBR650R, and the likes. TVS Eurogrip will introduce the Roadhound in twelve sizes when it launches in January next year, and by 2023, there will be a total of 20 sizes available. Do note that these are touring-oriented tyres and not for out-and-out performance. This range will help the company gain a greater foothold in the premium two-wheeler tyre segment in developed markets like Europe.
In a bid to establish itself in the fast-growing electric two-wheeler segment, the company has introduced the new E Torq, designed for electric two-wheelers with 10-inch or 12-inch tyres. It comes with a unique circuit board-shaped tread pattern, and is made of a low-friction silica tech compound which is claimed to offer good grip in both dry and wet road conditions, and offers 4-10 percent better mileage than conventional rubber. The silica structure is claimed to absorb heat better than its carbon structure counterpart, and can also handle the high rate of acceleration and deceleration associated with EVs thanks to their high torque output at low rpm. The EV market is still young, but TVS Eurogrip is currently in talks with several big EV makers for OEM partnership as well.
For bikes like the Bajaj Pulsar 150, Honda Unicorn, TVS Apache RTR 160, TVS Eurogrip introduced the the Duratrail EB+, a semi-block pattern tyres that can tackle the roads and the trails with ease, and Beamer HS+ for road-centric usage with better mileage, and Beamer YS+, a sporty tyre range for better dry and wet grip as well as better cornering confidence thanks to the rounded, extended shoulder.
Additionally, the company also introduced two new sizes for the TVS Protorq Extreme: 140/60 R17 63H TL and 140/70 R17 66H TL, designed for 300-odd cc performance-oriented motorcycles such as the KTM 390 Duke, BMW G 310 R and others.
Sub-400cc and middleweight two-wheelers show immense potential in recent years as they are not only affordable but also offer adequate, usable performance. Tapping into this segment will be vital for the long-term growth for TVS Eurogrip. So, summing up, the new range of tyres will go a long way in putting TVS Eurogrip on the map when it comes to the competitive global two-wheeler tyre business.
