The TVS NTorq 125 has always been feature rich and TVS has raised the bar even higher with the new XT variant that comes with several new geeky additions. Here are the details:
TVS equipped the NTorq Race XP with a fully digital LCD instrument cluster. However, the XT comes loaded with a segment-first hybrid split TFT and LCD Instrument console. It also gets a dedicated screen for Race Mode. Along with that, it gets start-stop tech with silent starter, lap timer, top speed indicator, and a 0-60kmph timer.
TVS had given the Race XP voice command features, through which you could toggle between the riding modes as well. You can read more about it in our review. The XT on the other hand now gets a dedicated voice assistant, SmartXtalk, which can be used to control modes, screen brightness, navigation and music. The SmartXtalk also helps the rider access information on low fuel warnings, fuel wastage, rain warnings, low phone battery warnings, and more through audio feedback.
TVS equipped the NTorq Race XP with SmartXonnect, enabling smartphone connectivity, call alerts and turn-by-turn navigation. The XT gets all of that along with a ‘SmartXtrack’ feature that gives you live notifications on weather, news, cricket and social updates. That said, you’ll be able to get these updates only when you’re at a standstill. The users can also set up their profile picture along with the image of the incoming caller, which will be visible on the scooter screen.
Paint Schemes
The Race XP comes in a bright, sporty Race Red Black colour. That coupled with the red rims give it good road presence. The NTorq 125 XT on the other hand comes in a snazzy new dual-tone Neon Green colour scheme, adding to its sporty appeal. There are small updates in the graphics as well.
Engine and Underpinnings
The NTorq 125 Race XP’s engine had always been its juiciest part since TVS had equipped it with a strong, segment-leading engine. Let’s see if the new XT variant can match up against its racy counterpart.
The Race XP is powered by a 124.8cc, single-cylinder, 3-valve motor churning out 10.2PS and 10.8Nm. The XT on the other hand is powered by the standard NTorq’s 124.8cc, 3-valve, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, pumping out 9.3PS and 10.5Nm, same as the standard variant. Consequently, it also lacks two riding modes.
That said, the XT does get new, lighter black alloys, giving it a stealthy, stylish look that also reduces the scooter’s unsprung mass. The Race XP on the other side gets red alloys that look every bit racy.
Verdict
We wish the TVS NTorq 125 XT got the Race XP’s powertrain, andIt‘s the least we can ask for while paying an exorbitant Rs 13,612 premium that it has over the XP. The geeky features that it gets fail to justify the extra asking price especially considering almost all the features can simply be accessed with a smartphone. The XT misses out on riding modes as well, which again, the Race XP gets.
