The motorcycle is a scrambler and not a cruiser

[UPDATE: TVS Ronin has been launched in India at Rs 1.49 lakh onwards. For price, specifications, and other details, read our launch story]

The TVS Zeppelin R and Ronin have been in the news quite frequently in the last couple of weeks, with the launch just around the corner. And just two days before the official launch, the images of the upcoming TVS Ronin have been leaked on social media. Instead of what we were expecting to be a production version of the TVS Zeppelin Cruiser, TVS will be launching the Ronin, a neo-retro scrambler.

In terms of appearance, the TVS Ronin employs a neo-retro scrambler design with a muscular fuel tank, single-piece seat, an upright seating position and mid-set foot pegs. The motorcycle gets a circular LED headlight with the T shape that we had reported earlier. Complimenting the retro appeal are the minimal body panels, giving off a clean look.

Powering the TVS Ronin will be a TVS Apache RTR 200 4V-derived (and rebored) 220cc engine. From what can be gathered from pictures, the scrambler is suspended on a USD fork and a monoshock. The braking hardware includes discs on both ends, and we expect it to have dual channel ABS on offer.

The bike will be launched this week and is expected to be priced at Rs 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom). With the premium hardware on offer, it would make a great rival to the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250.

That said, you don’t have to wait too long to find out more about TVS’s upcoming bike, as the launch event is on July 6, just two days away. Stay tuned to Zigwheels for more updates.
