  • Gets revised bumpers, carbon fibre inserts, and an active rear wing bigger than the Cayenne Coupe Turbo.

It was in June 2021 when Porsche unleashed the flagship performance version of the Cayenne Coupe, called the Cayenne Turbo GT. Now, it's finally here in India with a colossal price tag of Rs 2.57 crore (ex-showroom).

Porsche wasn’t kidding around when it created this model based on the Cayenne Coupe Turbo, for it has gone to such lengths to really make the Cayenne Turbo GT a top dog performance SUV.

The big upgrade is under the hood of course. While its a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol mill like in the Cayenne Turbo, different components including new pistons, crankshaft, timing chain drive, connecting rods and torsional vibration dampers are enough to push 640PS (90PS over the Turbo), making it Porsche’s most powerful twin-turbo V8 motor.

Combine all this with a quicker shifting 8-speed automatic transmission and a revised Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system and it's enough to propel the SUV from 0-100kmph in just 3.3 seconds (six tenths quicker than the Turbo).

Of course a beefier engine isn’t all that Porsche gave the Cayenne Turbo GT, as there’s a water-cooled  transfer as well as a lighter performance exhaust setup. It rides 17mm lower than the Turbo, with a stiffer air suspension.

Combine this with a performance-oriented anti-roll stabilisation system and 22-inch Pirelli P Zero Corsa performance tyres, the SUV has quite the cornering prowess. It comes with carbon ceramic brakes to have the best stopping power as well.

A flagship performance SUV has to look the part and the Cayenne Turbo GT ticks that box too. This includes revised bumpers, carbon fibre on the roof and rear diffuser, as well as a 25mm larger active rear spoiler.

Things may seem familiar on the inside, but there’s Alcantara upholstery and Turbo GT badging. It also comes with the next-generation Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system featuring Android Auto. Apple users can of course use Apple Music and podcasts.

Sure, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT’s price tag is quite a jump over the Turbo, but you get bonkers performance upgrades and the privilege of being in control of the fastest SUV to lap around the Nurburgring Nordschleife, it took 7 minutes and 38.925 seconds to achieve the feat. The performance SUV has the likes of the  Audi RSQ8, Lamborghini Urus and the BMW X5M as rivals in India.
