Utilises a 500PS 4-litre flat-six turbo-petrol engine paired with a 7-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox.
Can lap the Nurburgring in 7:04.511 minutes, 23 seconds quicker than the standard 718 GT4.
35kg lighter than the standard 718 Cayman GT4 thanks to splashes of carbon fibre on the body.
Looks racy with multiple air vents, chunky rear diffuser, bonnet with NACA air intakes, louvres and a swan-neck rear wing.
The folks at Stuttgart graced the 2021 LA Auto Show with the manic Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS. And now this flagship 718 Cayman is finally here in India at a price tag of Rs 2.54 crore (ex-showroom). Yes, you’ll have to shell out a lot more dough (around Rs 73 lakh) over the standard 718 Cayman GT4, but what Porsche has done to make this 718 Cayman stand out as a flagship trim ain’t for the faint of heart.
Let’s get down to where the magic happens for the 718 Cayman GT4 RS: under the hood. We’ve still got a 4-litre flat-6 engine onboard, but it now unleashes 500PS power and 450Nm torque, 80PS and 20Nm up over the standard 718 Cayman GT4. Paired to a 7-speed PDK automatic transmission, the sportscar can sprint from 0-100kmph in 3.4 seconds.
Not satisfied with these gains? Well, it can lap the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit in 7:04.511 minutes, a whopping 23 seconds quicker than the non-RS Cayman GT4.
Of course, there’s a lot more to the gains made in the 718 Cayman GT4 RS than just a beefed up engine. For starters, it's gone on a diet, weighing 1,415kg. That’s 35kg lighter than the 718 Cayman GT4 and as light as a Tata Nexon EV.
Contributing to these gains are bonnet and front fenders made of carbon fibre-reinforced plastic, the rear windshield, door pads, and carpets utilising lightweight materials, as well as fabric loops in place of door handles for ingress and egress.
As far as looks go, the 718 Cayman GT4 RS certainly looks racy with a multitude of air vents, louvres, all finished in a carbon fibre weave. At the rear you get a carbon fibre rear wing with a swan-neck setup aiding in increasing downforce. The 20-inch forged magnesium alloy wheels round off the racy look.
Sure, the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS will burn a hefty hole in the wallet, but those who’re looking for a no-frills top-of-line 718 Cayman, this should fit the bill.
