Due to the second wave of COVID-19, Royal Enfield couldn’t keep its promise of bringing a new motorcycle every quarter in 2021. However, we expect an explosive start to 2022 and the fun should continue all year long. So here are the bikes that RE will bring in 2022:
Scram 411
We expect Royal Enfield’s first offering for 2022 to be the Scram 411, which could come in as soon as the end of January. This Himalayan derivative is expected to be a sort of a no-frills adventure tourer, meant for highway cruising primarily and able to tackle small stretches of broken roads. For the Scram, Royal Enfield will ditch the large 21-inch front wheel for a 19-inch one, will not fit the tank braces and windshield, and try to bring the asking price down to the Rs 2 lakh mark. Hopefully, it should be a bit lighter, easier to manage and, not to forget, peppier as well.
Super Meteor 650 And Shotgun 650
Royal Enfield’s 650cc platform is all set to witness the arrival of two new 650cc cruisers: the Super Meteor 650 and the Shotgun 650. The two bikes are going to be using the same 648cc parallel-twin engine that plies its trade on the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. The bolted-on double cradle frame is expected to witness a host of changes for it to be cruiser-friendly. The cruisers will help the brand fortify its global presence, especially in the American market that’s so fond of cruiser motorcycles.
Hunter 350
The third and probably the most fun-to-ride bike of the new 350cc J-series platform will be the Hunter 350 and it is expected to arrive shortly after the Scram 411. The Hunter 350 will share the J1-349 motor and chassis with the Classic 350 and Meteor 350. Small changes will arrive in the steering geometry as it is meant to be a sporty roadster. However, the suspension is going to be different, might run on smaller 17-inch alloy wheels, and will have a Triumph Street Twin-ish vibe. It will be priced under the Classic and is likely to miss out on features like a standard Tripper pod.
Other Possible Bikes?
Royal Enfield was seen testing a new exhaust layout on the Interceptor 650. Perhaps, a lighter and hopefully, a more powerful version of the roadster as well as the cafe racer could be on the cards for sure. Also, don’t forget there will be quite a few special and limited edition versions of the existing bikes also arriving in 2022. So, there’s quite a lot to look forward to from RE in 2022 and we have a lot of expectations from the brand to continue delivering quality products.
