At the recently concluded TVS MotoSoul biking festival in Goa, the Hosur-based company launched its first set of helmet communication devices: the S10X and the S20X. The two are priced at Rs 8,499 and Rs 10,999 respectively, the latter commanding a higher asking price for its extra doodads that aims to make communication with your riding mates on the go all the more effective.
The common bits on both devices remain the IP67 waterproof rating (so no fuss when riding in incessant rains), 8mm slim JBL speakers with a 40mm driver, and Siri as well as Google Assistant functionality. On the lower-spec S10X, it seems you can only connect two devices at a time and the intercom system will only function if the distance between the two is less than 700m.
The S20X has a larger communication field, 1.2km to be precise. It can also stay connected to 20 riders at a time, with the possibility to create small clusters within the 20 and effortlessly switch between the two.
Both of these devices can easily connect to the modern TVS SmartXonnect modules found on the likes of the Apache RR 310, Raider 125 SmartXonnect version, and NTorq 125 Race XT. Whether it will be compatible with older modules, like the ones found on the NTorq 125 and the Apache RTR 200 4V, remains to be seen.
