2019 Porsche Macan S Revealed; Gets a New V6 Turbo Engine

• The 2019 Porsche Macan S is equipped with a new 3.0-litre V6 engine

• New motor produces 354PS of max power and 480Nm of peak torque

• It is likely to be paired with Porsche’s 7-speed PDK transmission

• The 2019 Macan will make its India debut early next year

Porsche has added a new model to the Macan range with the reveal of the new Macan S. Aside form refreshed looks, the Macan S also brings with it a new 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 engine. It produces 354PS of max power and 480Nm of peak torque. Although Porsche hasn’t specified the transmission of the new Macan S, we expect it to be the company’s revered 7-speed PDK transmission.

The Macan has always been one of the best handling SUVs out there, but Porsche claims its handling prowess has been enhanced even further. According to Porsche, the chassis of the Macan has been overhauled and re-tuned. The front suspension setup now comprises of aluminium spring forks instead of steel ones. Meanwhile, light alloy wheels have also been used to reduce unsprung mass and improve chassis rigidity. At the rear, the anti-roll bars have been re-tuned as well for more neutral handling. In addition to this, the Macan S is now offered with Porsche Active Stability Monitoring system, active damper control, height adjustable air suspension with optimised rolling pistons and new shock absorber hydraulics. Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, on the other hand, will be offered as an option.

The brakes too have been revised and now feature larger diameter discs up (350mm to 360mm), while carbon ceramic brakes are part of the options list. Other options include a GT sport steering wheel from a 911, Sport Chrono Package as well as a Traffic Jam Assist system.
