Indian has four models in the FTR 1200 range: FTR 1200, FTR 1200S, FTR 1200R Carbon and the FTR 1200 Rally. All four variants have gone through a number of changes for 2021. The most striking change on the FTR 1200, S and R variants are the addition of 17-inch wheels instead of the previous 19-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel setup.
The smaller wheels offer more tyre choices for the riders where the previous setup limited it to OEM Dunlop rubber and a few adventure bike tyres. Sans the Indian FTR 1200 Rally, all three models are now shod with Metzeler Sportec Street tyres.

Reducing the wheel size has also led to somewhat of a domino effect. The FTR’s rake and trail have changed and the bike will likely change directions with more ease now. The seat height has also been reduced by 36mm, making it more accessible for shorter riders. It gets better equipment too, with ZF Sachs fully adjustable suspension where the travel has been reduced to 120mm from 150mm.
The top-spec FTR 1200 R Carbon now gets a fully adjustable USD fork and a fully adjustable monoshock also from Ohlins, Akrapovic exhaust and a few more carbon-fibre bits. Customers can also order these springs separately for the FTR 1200 S.
