We’ve managed to get our hands on the specifications of the BS6-compliant Bajaj Dominar 400. Although the Dominar 400 has received a tweaked engine, an updated ECU as well as a larger cat-con, it’s output figures are more or less same as before. The changes have resulted in a minor price hike of Rs 1,749 over the BS4 model. Dealerships across the country have started accepting unofficial bookings for around Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000. Expect the Dominar 400 BS6 to be launched in the coming weeks.
When it comes to performance, the BS6 Dominar 400 makes 39.97PS (just 0.03PS less than before) through its 373.27cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. It generates its peak power slightly higher up the rev range -- 8800rpm compared to 8650rpm in the BS4 model. Torque, on the other hand, is likely to remain unchanged at 35Nm.
It will continue to use the same suspension setup as before, which includes an upside-down fork and a monoshock. Braking setup comprises discs at both ends paired with dual-channel ABS. However, the updated components could result in a minor weight gain. The current BS4 model, for instance, tips the scales at 184kg kerb. In terms of competition, the Dominar 400 BS6 competes against the Jawa and the Royal Enfield Classic 350.
