Coming to what’s new in the 5 Series, the biggest update is on the outside. It gets bolder bumpers, a larger trademark kidney grille, sharper adaptive LED headlamps, and refreshed LED tail lamps. If that’s not enough, the M Sport pack adds on sportier bumpers and racy M Sport alloy wheels. It's also grown longer by 27mm over the otugoing model. Two new body shades are on offer: Phytonic Blue and Bernina Grey.
The cabin is largely similar, aside from new trim options, complemented by gloss black inserts. It also gets a larger 12.3-inch i-Drive infotainment system, that now comes with Android Auto connectivity and wireless smartphone integration. Other key features include various driver assists, such as lane keeping assist, lane changing assist, an optional parking assistant with a 360-degree camera, and additional reversing assistant function.
Unlike the model sold abroad, which offers hybrid powertrain options, the India-spec model carries on with its current lineup: 530i petrol engines and 520d and 530d diesel engines. All three engines are paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Here’s a detailed look at their specifications:

BMW’s updated 5 Series sedan rekindles its rivalry against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz E Class, Audi A6, and Volvo S90. That being said, the Volvo S90 is expected to get a mid-life refresh sometime later this year.
