Indian Motorcycles has officially launched the FTR 1200, FTR 1200 S and FTR 1200 S Race Replica in India. These motorcycles are the first proper flat trackers to be launched in the country. The new bikes gets a lot of nifty features and a powerful 1200cc V-twin motor. Here's all you need to know about the Indian FTR 1200 S.

 The FTR 1200 looks like a flat tracker for the road. It is a bike you could indulge in the sport of flat tracking with minimal modifications.

It's number plate holder and turn indicators are mounted separately on the tyre hugger. This gives the motorcycle's tail piece a clean look.

This is actually a dummy fuel tank and hides the air-box.

The fuel tank is located under the seat. This location has allowed the engineers to give the flat tracker a slimmer dummy fuel tank design without compromising on range. Fuel tank capacity is rated at 13 litres.

The 2-into-1-into-2 exhaust pipes curve around the V-twin motor and merge into a large twin exhaust end cans.

The seat is a flat unit that allows the rider to move around while flat tracking. It's seat height at 840mm is on the higher side though.

The FTR 1200 S gets a 4.3-inch TFT colour touchscreen instrument console. Apart from the speedometer and tachometer, you get a fuel gauge, gear position indicator, engine temperature, ambient temperature, a fuel guge and range. It also gets a digital compass.

It also gets swappable display modes.

This touchscreen display also features controls to reduce or increase screen brightness. You can also toggle through the three ride modes or switch off the ABS through the screen.

In case you are wondering what the music and phone buttons are for, the FTR 1200S gets Bluetooth connectivity that allows you to pair your phone to listen to music and make calls as well.

The FTR 1200 gets a 1203cc, liquid-cooled, V-twin motor. It makes 124.6PS and 117.9Nm of torque. The 6-speed gearbox gets a slip and assist clutch. In addition to this, it also gets three ride modes (Sport, Standard Rain), stability, traction and wheelie control as well as cruise control.

The suspension setup comprises of a fully-adjustable 43mm upside-down separate cartridge fork at the front.

At the rear, the FTR 1200 S gets a fully-adjustable piggyback monoshock. This suspension setup allows for a great deal of adjustability for road and track riding.

Braking is via a dual 320mm disc with Brembo four-piston radially mounted calipers at the front and a 260mm disc with a two-piston Brembo caliper at the rear.

The FTR 1200 gets a six-axis IMU-based cornering ABS. It can be completely switched off for track use.

For better grip in the dirt, the FTR 1200 S gets a 120/70 R19 and 150/70 R18 Dunlop DT3-R radial tyres at the front and rear.

The base FTR 1200 is priced at Rs 14.99 lakh, while the FTR 1200 S costs  Rs 15.99 lakh. Meanwhile, the top-spec FTR 1200 S Race Replica retails at Rs 17.99 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom India).
