Kawasaki Z900 -
The popular middle-weight naked motorcycle from Kawasaki, the Z800, will be replaced by a technically advanced and bigger displacement motorcycle - the Z900. The motorcycle is priced at Rs 9 lakh with accessories (ex-showroom,Delhi). The Z900 gets a sharper design which bears significant resemblance to its bigger sibling, the Z1000. Internationally, the motorcycle is built around a high tensile Trellis frame, powered by a 948cc in-line four cylinder engine which produces 125PS @ 9500rpm and a peak torque of 100Nm @ 7700rpm, mated to a 6-speed transmission. The motorcycle gets slipper clutch and a segment first all-LED headlamp. It gets 41mm inverted forks at the front and a horizontal back-link monoshock unit at the rear. Braking duties are handled by dual 300mm petal-type rotors with four-piston calipers at the front and a single 250mm petal-type rotor with single-piston caliper at the rear. Additionally, ABS is offered as standard. The bike runs on a Dunlop Sportmax 120/70 Z R17 tyre at front and a 180/55 Z R17 tyre at the rear. The Z900’s saddle height is 795mm and it gets a 17-litre fuel tank. At 212kg, the Z900 weighs 20kg lesser than the outgoing Z800.
Kawasaki Z650 -
The Z650 gets sharper styling and a new frame that helps reduce weight targeted towards making the bike dynamically strong. The motorcycle is powered by a 649cc, liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder engine delivering 67.5PS at 8,000rpm and peak torque of 65.7Nm at 6,500rpm which is mated to a 6-speed transmission. The Z650 weighs 19 kilos lighter than the outgoing ER-6n motorcycle though the 650cc parallel twin motor sees a 4PS drop in power owing to Euro 4 norms. The motorcycle makes 68PS and gets better mid-range. Ergonomics have been improved. It gets a low set 790mm seat good for average height riders. It now gets ABS and a new slipper clutch as standard. The Z650 is priced at Rs 5.19 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)
